Mongoose Ritual Dirt 2010

The first Sunday of Lent

Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted forty days and forty nights, he was hungry.
The tempter approached and said, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to become bread." But he said: "It is written: No man shall live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
Then the devil took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said: "If you are the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written: He will command his angels concerning you, and they shall bear thee up with their hands, lest to strike your foot against a stone. " Jesus replied, "it is written, not groped the Lord your God."
Then the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory, and said: "All these things will I give thee, if, prostrate yourself and worship me." But Jesus answered him, "Begone, Satan! It is written: Worship the Lord your God and him only shall you serve. "
Then the devil left him, and behold, angels came and ministered to him.
(4.1 to 11 Mt)

"The first Sunday of the Lenten journey highlights our human condition on this terra. (Benedetto VI)
